Outreach

In accordance with the land-grant university mission of bringing the university to the people, we engage in outreach efforts focused on expanding the capacity of individuals, groups, and communities to lead across contexts and while addressing the urgent needs of a rapidly changing society.

Ongoing Outreach Efforts

  • The Oaks Leadership Scholars
The Oaks Leadership Scholars program challenges NC State students to see themselves as leaders of change in their communities. The Oaks provides evidence-based transformative leadership development with the goal of reaching justice and equity outcomes through programming, mentoring, and travel. We hear the question, “Leadership for what?” and we say “For a better, stronger, and more just world.”  More information can be found on the Oaks Scholars website.
  • North Carolina Botanic Gardens
The Transformative Leadership Lab has a long standing relationship with the North Carolina Botanic Gardens DEI committee. After facilitating a three year DEI strategic planning process, now in year three of that plan, we are helming the plan evaluation efforts. At the close of the evaluation we will facilitate the next iteration of their three year strategic plan.
  • Agents of Change
This two year program develops county extension agents’ transformative leadership capacity and to use their positional and referent authority and power to promote positive change in
their community. These individuals develop plans to address community challenges – including policy, system, and environmental changes – through engagement as leaders. More information can be found at the Agents for Change Portal.
