The Transformative Leadership Lab

Leadership must be transformative if it is to meet the urgency of the moment. Leaders must move the needle toward equity, justice, and liberation– creating communities where all can thrive. This is the ethos that underpins our work.

Our lab conducts research and outreach to advance the field of leadership for social movements. Our goal is to become a recognized local, national, and international partner in building leadership capacity in individuals and communities working to bring about justice and equity outcomes. Join us in our work…

  • Contributing to the scholarship of leadership for social movements
  • Creating innovative pedagogical strategies to develop leadership capacity in learners across contexts
  • Broadening the practice of transformative leadership for social movements to include justice and equity outcomes for communities traditionally left behind or out of the conversation of research
  • Mentoring the next generation of community educators, leaders & organizers in a supportive community of practice environment
  • Searching for committed, hopeful, courageous lab members who will bring a passion for change, an enthusiasm for leadership and a willingness to bring their full authentic selves to the work
  • Using our privilege to amplify the voices and experiences of those groups who have existed on the margins of leadership
